United Methodists can apply to join a two-week ecumenical visit to refugee camps and projects in Africa next May.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is coordinating United Methodist participation in the trip, which is sponsored by Church World Services, the relief agency of the National Council of Churches. The application deadline is Oct. 16, according to Lilia Fernandez, UMCOR's executive secretary for refugee ministries.

UMCOR will contribute a $700 scholarship toward the travel and accommodations cost, which is $2,500.

Applicants must have experience working with refugees in the United States, and they must be committed to interpreting their experience in local churches to increase interest in and awareness of refugee ministry.

For an application, call Fernandez at (212) 870-3805 or send an e-mail to liliaf@gbgm-umc.org
